Message So, I bought 4, 1997 Gillig Phantom 35 foot city transit buses recently. I have had 10 other Gillig buses before, but none of them had ever had these left in the bus before. But 2 of these had the 3M Opticom 792 systems still installed. I was thinking about installing one of them in my Z, but I'm not sure if I might get into a little trouble. I don't know how they would really catch you. Or if they did, what the charge would be. This is the system that emergency vehicles, & city buses use to change red lights to green, or if they are already green, they will keep them green longer. I'm not 100% sure, but since these were on a city transit bus, & not an emergency vehicle, I don't think they flash the white lights, or change the light from red to green, like they do for an ambulence or police car. I think all they do is to keep the green light green longer, so the buses don't have to stop for so many red lights, so they can stay on their bus route schedule. But how cool would that be, to sail right through all of the stop lights, unless they are already red (at least on major streets, that have these systems installed)? Here's a pic of the front of one, & the back of the other. There's a toggle switch for on/off, & it only requires power & ground. Does anybody know anything about these systems? Photobucket
